The inaugural International Women in Mathematics Day (may12.womeninmaths.org/) is approaching on 12 May 2019. This day commemorates the birthday of the ground-breaking mathematician Maryam Mirzakhani and aims to celebrate and connect women in mathematics across the globe.

In recognition of this global event, Flinders University, The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia will be running the first Women in Maths Day SA Conference on Monday 13 May 2019.

The careers focused conference will run from 9:30 am – 3 pm at the University of Adelaide and will include perspectives from both industry and academia on the role of women in mathematics, an interactive networking workshop, and tailored panel discussions for students and early-career mathematicians. The day will also include a keynote address from leading mathematician, and co-founder and co-chair of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) program, Prof. Nalini Joshi (AO). This is an excellent opportunity for mathematicians at any stage of their career to expand their networks and gain insightful career advice from mathematicians across both industry and academia.

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided, and a full event program will be released soon.
